TALLASSEE —  Johnny Hammock won re-election Tuesday without a runoff to his second term as mayor of Tallassee.

Hammock won the three man race collecting 612 votes to Danny Ingram's 350 and John Stonaker's 209.

"I want to thank the citizens of Tallassee for believing in me," Hammock said.  "I want to thank my opponents for running a good clean campaign.  I want to thank the people that saw through the lies and half truths about me and my wife on social medial.  I feel that Tallassee will have a very productive 4 years and I thank God for allowing me to continue  to serve."

Hammock turned himself into the Elmore County Jail on Sunday night facing a misdemeanor harassment charge relating to a road rage incident involving his wife. Keazanni Spencer, 21, of Tallassee, turned herself in Monday facing the same charge. Both were released after posting $300 bonds.

According to testimony in a probable cause hearing held Friday, Hammock's wife was driving her vehicle the afternoon of July 5 when she alleged Spencer was driving a car that cut her off.

Hammock's wife filed a police report, but the issue flared later when she and Hammock were driving in the area in the mayor's truck, and spotted Spencer's car.

Spencer alleges Hammock pulled in front of her, blocking her vehicle and threatened her with arrest. Hammock was allegedly armed with a handgun at the time. She testified that he did not point the gun at her, but that she felt threatened by the presence of the gun.

The hearing has been set for Oct. 7 in Elmore County District Court.
