DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) -A woman who slept early Sunday died in a barrage of gunfire intended for someone else in that Dothan home, sources told WTVY. Police have not confirmed those reports.

The department’s Criminal Investigative Division commander confirms the victim’s body has been sent to a state forensics lab as part of a homicide investigation but did not elaborate on circumstances surrounding the shooting.. “We’re early on in the process,” said Dothan Police Lieutenant Scott Owens.

He identified the woman killed as 50-year old Christina Yvonne Moore, who lived in the 700 block of South Lena Street where the shooting occurred.

Owens also did not speculate on the number of shots fired into that home just before dawn, though that number is at least 50 and likely came from multiple guns, per sources.

It is also not immediately known if this incident is related to other recent shootings in Dothan, including one that killed high school senior Majic Collins on August 20. Another teen has been charged with murder in that case.
