D.A.R.E Power Park
~ This park is the most recent recreation facility to be added in the Lake Martin area. The park features a white sandy swimming beach, two large pavilions (which may be reserved), 13 picnic tables with grills, two fishing piers, restroom facilities, and an amphitheater. The park is centrally located on the eastern side of the lake, about six miles west of Dadeville on Young's Ferry Road. The park is open from early spring through early fall.
D.A.R.E Power Park is a 30-acre, day-use facility developed in 1997 by Alabama Power with cooperation from the local community. The name of the facility came from the winning entry in a contest to name the park. The competition was open to student members of the Drug Awareness Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) organizations at four Tallapoosa County Schools.
Alabama Power built this park to comply with terms of the Martin Dam hydroelectric project operating license granted by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.
Attendants are available to help ensure that your visit is a pleasant experience. A boat ramp adjacent to the park is open year round.
